This Thanksgiving is a special one. My uncle, Willie De Moore Billingslea is a commanding officer of his squadron VT-4 of the United States Air Force. My uncle has had much success this year and before he is deported to Iraq, we are celebrating this very special holiday with him. You might ask why is this such a big deal, well with many people serving our country I never thought about how would it personally affect me until my uncle became part of the number. With my uncle being deported we don't know how long he will be there nor do we know the chances of us being able to spend another holiday with him.
Being away at school I am not able to see my family as much as I would like too, and this is the perfect opportunity for me to see all my family in the same setting and to fellowship with them. I'm happy to say that I have learned the true meaning of "family" early instead of later in my life when I am older, to realize that every time you are with your family, you should spend each and every moment as though it's the last.
This Thanksgiving will be a successful one. Luckly, I will be old enough to share with my own family one day, how important holidays are and the gift of family.
